ARARA - The American Rock Art Research Association publishes a newsletter, La Pintura, and proceedings of their annual conference. It is an organization of amateur and professional archaeologists dedicated to the study and preservation of rock art. Membership information is available from ARARA, Arizona State Museum, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721, or visit their website.
Deer Valley Rock Art Center - "The mission of the Deer Valley Rock Art Center is to preserve and to provide public access to the Hedgpeth Hills petroglyph site, to interpret the cultural expressions found here, and to be a center for rock art studies". Operated by Arizona State University, the Center houses the ARARA archives, rock art research activities, a first-rate visitor center, and is the gateway (and only access) for public viewing of the Hedgpeth Hills petroglyphs. Both the website and the Center itself (north of Phoenix) are well worth a visit.
San Diego Museum of Man - This museum conducts an annual rock
art symposium in November and publishes papers presented there. Information
and publications of past proceedings are available from San Diego Museum of
